About this product
Drambuie is a Scotch whisky liqueur made with aged Scotch whisky, heather honey, herbs and spices. It's rich, honeyed and gently spiced, and it's the key ingredient in the Rusty Nail.
Origin: The Drambuie story is tied to Scottish history. Legend says Bonnie Prince Charlie gave the recipe to Captain John MacKinnon on the Isle of Skye in 1746, in thanks for sheltering him after the Battle of Culloden. The name is said to come from the Gaelic "an dram buidheach", the drink that satisfies. Since 2014 the brand has been owned by William Grant & Sons.
How it's made: A blend of aged Scotch whiskies is combined with heather honey and a closely guarded mix of herbs and spices.
Tasting notes: Honey, orange peel and herbs on the nose. The palate is sweet and rich, with heather honey, warming whisky and a gentle spice, and the finish is long and honeyed.
How to serve: Sip it neat or over ice after dinner. For a Rusty Nail, stir one part Drambuie with two parts Scotch over ice and garnish with lemon peel. It also mixes well with ginger ale and a squeeze of lime.
Who it's for: Whisky drinkers who enjoy a sweeter dram, cocktail fans, and anyone looking for a classic Scottish gift.
