About this product
Aperol is the bright orange Italian aperitivo behind the Aperol Spritz. Light, bittersweet and refreshing, it's built for long sunny afternoons.
Origin: Aperol was created in 1919 by the Barbieri brothers in Padua, in northern Italy, after years of experimenting. The Spritz became hugely popular in the Veneto in the decades after the Second World War and has since spread worldwide.
How it's made: Aperol is made by infusing a mix of ingredients, including bitter and sweet orange, rhubarb and gentian, to a recipe that has remained unchanged since its creation.
Tasting notes: Vibrant orange colour. Zesty orange and herbal notes on the nose, with a hint of vanilla. The palate is fresh and bittersweet, with orange peel and a gently bitter, herbal finish.
How to serve: For the classic Aperol Spritz, fill a wine glass with ice, add three parts Prosecco, two parts Aperol and a splash of soda, then garnish with an orange slice. It's also good with tonic or orange juice.
Who it's for: Spritz fans, terrace and garden gatherings, and anyone looking for a light, colourful pre-dinner drink.
