About this product
Campari is the bright red Italian bitter that gives the Negroni its backbone. Bold, bittersweet and aromatic, it's a must-have for any home bar.
Origin: Gaspare Campari created the recipe in Novara, near Milan, in 1860, and his son Davide built it into a national icon. Milan's café culture made it famous, and today it's the world's best-known aperitivo bitter.
How it's made: Campari is made by infusing herbs, aromatic plants and fruit in alcohol and water. The exact recipe has never been made public and is known to only a handful of people at the company.
Tasting notes: Deep, glowing red. Aromas of bitter orange, cherry and herbs. The palate starts sweet before turning firmly bitter, with orange peel, spice and wood, and a long, dry finish.
How to serve: Equal parts Campari, gin and sweet vermouth over ice with an orange slice makes a Negroni. For something lighter, try a Campari Soda, a Campari and orange juice, or an Americano with vermouth and soda.
Who it's for: Negroni lovers, aperitivo-hour regulars, and anyone who prefers bittersweet flavours to sugary ones.
